The EU-27 ambassadors to the European Union discussed on Wednesday the incident in Poland following the death of two people in a town bordering Ukraine from an alleged projectile hit, stressing the need for the EU to remain «united and firm» at this time.

The usual meeting of ambassadors has started with an urgent point on the impact of missiles on Polish territory, in which the member states have shown their condolences to the families and victims, said the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU in a message on social networks noting that the situation «further strengthens the collective solidarity and unity of the EU».

The ambassadors of the member states have received the preliminary findings of the case from the EU External Action Service (EEAS) and the Intelligence and Situation Center of the European Union (INTENC) which however have not declared the origin of the projectile or the authorship of the maneuver, diplomatic sources have told Europa Press.

At first some European countries such as the Baltic countries pointed to Moscow for the missile impact on Polish territory, although the United States has avoided confirming the authorship and in declarations from Bali, Indonesia, where the G20 summit is organized, the president of the United States, Joe Biden, has pointed out that it is «improbable» that the projectile was fired by Russia and has advocated to complete the investigation on the event.

To this effect, NATO has convened an emergency meeting of allied ambassadors on Wednesday to examine the incident in Poland where two people have died in the border town of Przewodow, due to an explosion that the media have attributed to the impact of missiles.

THE EU REMAINS «FIRM AND UNITED».

In any case, during the meeting, the representatives of the EU-27 intervened along the same lines to send a message of caution, pending clarification of the origin of the explosion which cost the lives of two Polish citizens.

The ambassadors stressed the need for a «firm and united» EU response to this situation, as well as a condemnation of the massive attacks perpetrated by Russia in recent hours against Ukrainian cities, the sources added.

To this effect, the EU is already working on a joint declaration of the Twenty-seven that sends a message of repulsion to the Russian aggression against the neighboring country and the last offensive against Ukrainian cities, in which the incident happened in Poland is framed.

European sources explain to Europa Press that European diplomacy is awaiting a full assessment of the incident in the border town of Przewodow, which set off the alarm bells on Tuesday.
