U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris announced Saturday that the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting will be held in San Francisco, California, the week of November 12 with the United States as the host country.

«President Biden and I look forward to welcoming APEC leaders to San Francisco next year and to a successful meeting where we will promote economic growth and prosperity for the American people and the people of the entire Indo-Pacific region,» Harris said in a statement.

Joe Biden’s number two, highlighted the importance of technological innovation being developed in California and assured that during its ‘Host Year’, the North American country will focus on sustainable economic growth, based on what was discussed this week in Thailand, to acquire new commitments to sustainability and decarbonization.

«We will demonstrate the United States’ enduring economic commitment to the Indo-Pacific. As I have made clear throughout my time in Bangkok: under our Administration, the United States is a strong partner for Indo-Pacific economies and businesses,» he said.

«We are working to strengthen our economic relationships across the region, including by increasing two trade flows and the free flow of capital, which support millions of American jobs.»

APEC is a forum created in the late 1980s to enhance relations and growth among countries around the Pacific Ocean and consists of a total of 21 countries.
