Five people have died in a fire Sunday at a flower warehouse in Moscow’s Komsomolskaya Square, authorities said.
The fire was extinguished, but the two-storey building in the center of the Russian capital was badly damaged, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
Firefighters were able to rescue the five bodies from the rubble, according to the city’s emergency department. The fire was detected at 3.13 p.m. and at 10.03 p.m. it was declared extinguished.
The warehouse was of large dimensions and it is estimated that approximately 500 meters of the floor between the first and second floor have collapsed.
