Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has urged the United Nations to openly denounce Ukraine’s alleged execution of prisoners of war and stop «hiding behind catch phrases.»

The Russian diplomatic representative reacted to statements made by the deputy spokesman of the UN Secretary General, Farhan Haq, in which, questioned about the alleged execution of prisoners, he assured that the organization is «concerned about any violation of human rights regardless of who commits them».

Thus, Zakharova has launched a publication on her Telegram channel where she has urged the UN to decide «in favor of everything good and against everything bad», or to evaluate the events of the war with «objectivity and impartiality», thus fulfilling «its duties and functional mandates».

The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman recalled that the UN analyzed in detail and proactively the events in Bucha – where Ukraine denounced the death of dozens of civilians at Russian hands – while now, when it is Moscow that accuses Kiev of committing atrocities, the UN avoids «any assessment of factual information».

Russian authorities last week denounced Ukraine for having executed a dozen prisoners of war. Kiev, for the moment, has announced that it will investigate what happened, although it has pointed out that preliminary information suggests that the Russian soldiers faked their surrender in order to be able to shoot the Ukrainians, to which the latter responded.
