French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne is scheduled to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin this Friday amid recent tensions between Paris and Berlin over key issues such as energy, defense and industrial policies.
Borne’s trip to Berlin is seen as an attempt to revive Franco-German relations, strained in recent months due to different positions on various issues, amplified by the war in Ukraine.
Likewise, the lack of communication between the authorities is reflected in the postponement of a joint ministerial council meeting, initially scheduled for the end of October, reports the DPA agency.
The French Prime Minister’s talks with the German Chancellor are intended to ease tensions before the two countries return to bilateral and European issues, according to the Elysee Palace.
