The death toll from this week’s bombing at a Jerusalem bus stop has risen to two on Saturday after one of the victims lost his life as a result of his injuries, a hospital spokesman said.

Acting Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid has conveyed his condolences to the victim’s family and said medical teams had been working on the patient until the last minute, in a post on Twitter.

«I am heartbroken with grief over the death of Tedsa Tschuma, who was fatally wounded in the attack in Jerusalem last week. Medical teams fought for his life until the last moment. Tshuma, emigrated to Israel from Ethiopia 21 years ago, leaving wife and children.»

«On behalf of the Government of Israel and the citizens of Israel, I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

Of blessed memory,» he wrote this Saturday on the social network.

The victim was injured Wednesday when bombs detonated at two bus stops in the Jerusalem metropolitan area. In addition, another 16-year-old was killed that day, while eighteen others were injured.

At the moment, it is unclear who planted the bombs and no group has claimed responsibility for the events. Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing and the security presence in the city was significantly increased on Saturday.
