North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un on Sunday heaped praise on his country’s nuclear program during a new inspection of the Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile.
«We must never be complacent, and we must consolidate our superpowers into something more absolute and irreversible, and continue to accelerate toward infinity our ability to strengthen our national defense,» according to a statement published by North Korean official media and picked up by the official South Korean news agency Yonhap.
Kim appeared again accompanied by his second daughter, presented in public for the first time on November 18, also accompanied by the intercontinental missile, which the North Korean leader defended this Sunday as the «most powerful strategic weapon in the world».
During the ceremony, the Standing Committee of the North Korean Supreme People’s Assembly awarded the missile the title of ‘Hero of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (the country’s official name) and Gold Star Medal and Order of the National Flag First Class’, according to the official North Korean news agency, KCNA.
