German legal authorities have suspended for lack of evidence an investigation into the alleged use of drugs for the rape of women at a summer party organized by the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).
According to sources in the Public Prosecutor’s Office told the DPA agency, the police have failed to identify any suspects, thus halting investigations against an unidentified person for causing dangerous bodily injury.
The SPD organized a party on July 6 after which a total of 14 people reported feeling unwell and even experiencing memory loss. Police attended to all complainants, although some of the cases could not be corroborated.
Investigators have had access to videos and images of the party and have questioned those affected, as well as the organizers and some employees.
A 21-year-old potential victim filed a police report and, at the end of the event, was examined at a hospital after having experienced episodes of nausea and memory loss without having consumed alcohol.
Drugs such as ketamine or GHB are used for rape. Perpetrators secretly pour the substances into the victim’s drink to render her defenseless for sexual assault.
