The foreign ministers of seven European countries have traveled to Kiev on Monday to convey in person the «solidarity» of their respective governments with the authorities and the people of Ukraine, who have been facing the Russian invasion since the end of February.
«Despite Russia’s bomb showers and barbaric brutality, Ukraine will win,» top diplomats from Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden have proclaimed on their Twitter feeds in a battery of similar messages.
In the Ukrainian capital, they have started an agenda of meetings that has included, among other meetings, one with the Prime Minister, Denis Shmihal, who has claimed the joint struggle for «common values and peace». Shmihal included among the topics discussed «the tightening of sanctions, the reconstruction of the energy infrastructure and financial support».
He also called for support for Ukraine’s «Euro-Atlantic aspirations», which are especially shared by Eastern European countries. Estonian Minister Urmas Reinsalu has emphasized on social networks that Kiev should be part of «the Euro-Atlantic family».
