South Korean authorities announced Tuesday that they will give $3 million (about 2.8 million euros) to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to encourage the export of Ukrainian grain to vulnerable countries facing food and drought problems.
Thus, the Government has indicated that it has decided to join the ‘Grain from Ukraine’ initiative with the aim of contributing to the export of grain across the Black Sea and to countries such as Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
The country’s Foreign Ministry said that Seoul «supports the initiative, which is seen as a significant contribution to international efforts to help alleviate the global food crisis».
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski urged during the G20 summit to participate in this initiative and presented a roadmap in this regard.
