
The first ship with Ukrainian grain arrived in Ethiopia this Saturday as part of the Grain From Ukraine program, Head of the Presidential Cabinet Andrii Yermak reported on his Telegram channel.
In total, Kiev has sent 25,00 tons of humanitarian wheat to the African country through the scheme promoted by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
«Together with its partners, Ukraine, as a guarantor of food security, does everything possible to help people in need. Our partners buy Ukrainian grain to fight hunger in the world,» Yermark said in the released text.
The program was presented in the last week of November and will involve sending up to 60 ships from Black Sea ports around Odessa until the middle of next year, the president announced.
Specifically, the Ukrainian government agreed to send 125,000 tons of grain to Sudan, Yemen, Kenya and Nigeria in compliance with the decree of the president «On provision of humanitarian aid to the countries of Africa and Asia».
