Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured on Saturday that his flagship infrastructure project, the Mayan Train, will be completed next year «although it seems incredible».
«We are going to inaugurate the Mayan Train next year», said the Mexican president after defending this work «pride of our civil and military engineering». The work will be ready in 2023 «with its 1,554 kilometers, with all the stations, stops, with all the infrastructure, including the new international airport» in Tulum.
López Obrador has published a video on social networks informing of a visit he is making this weekend to supervise the works in different sections.
«Although some do not want to accept it or do not know it, it is necessary to know that a work like this, of 1,554 kilometers, is not currently being done anywhere in the world,» he said.
The inauguration of the Mayan Train, which will link the states of Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo, is scheduled for December 2023.
