Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has thanked his U.S. counterpart, Joe Biden, for the «unprecedented assistance» provided by Washington since the invasion by Russian troops began ten months ago.

Zelenski, who conveyed to Biden his gratitude for the various aid packages to Kiev, pointed out that these measures help «not only to succeed on the battlefield, but also to maintain the stability of the economy» of the country, the Ukrainian Presidency informed in a statement.

He also thanked his counterpart «for confirming his readiness to support Ukraine as long as necessary, as well as the clear and constant commitment of the United States to the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity (…) within internationally recognized borders».

The Ukrainian president, who described the phone call as a «fruitful conversation», assured through a publication on his profile on the social network Twitter that «the leadership of the United States remains firm».

«We talked about greater cooperation on defense, protection and maintenance of our energy sector. Coordinated positions on the eve of the G7 online summit,» he has pointed out.

For its part, the White House has reported that Biden stressed Washington’s continued defense support for Ukraine «as Russia continues its attacks on critical infrastructure.»

Thus, Biden has highlighted how his Administration is prioritizing efforts to strengthen Ukrainian air defense, while reaffirming its commitment to continue providing economic, humanitarian and security assistance.

He added that they will «hold Russia accountable for its war crimes and atrocities», while imposing continued sanctions on Moscow «for its aggression».
