Supporters of Bolivian President Luis Arce have denounced this Monday that «radicals» did not allow them to enter the celebration event that took place in Cochabamba this Sunday for the anniversary of the first electoral victory of the Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) formation, then led by Evo Morales, in 2005.
On the other hand, supporters of Evo Morales, the former leader of the country until 2019, have pointed out that the renovators tried to sabotage the celebration, which they have described as «surprising» due to rumors that it would be suspended to coincide with the World Cup final.
MAS vice-president, Gerardo García, alluded to the government authorities: «Each one of those present came by their own means. The ministers have made us the counter campaign of wanting to sabotage this event,» he said.
García indicated that «the state was packed», so that some attendees remained at the gates of the event, as reported by the Bolivian newspaper ‘Página Siete’.
MAS leader, Evo Morales, celebrated this Sunday the anniversary of his party’s victory in the 2005 elections. This event took place without the presence of the President, Luis Arce, or the Vice President, David Choquehuanca.
Precisely, Arce’s government issued a communiqué on the occasion calling for reflection to the militants of the ruling party and advocating for unity, in order to «avoid fractures that, if they deepen, will generate damages that will be difficult to repair».
