Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence has not registered as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election despite his name appearing for a moment on the Federal Election Commission (FEC) website, his advisers have recounted on social networks.
«Former Vice President Mike Pence has not registered to run for president today,» asserted Devin O’Malley, Pence’s spokesman, in a statement released on Twitter.
O’Malley’s statement comes after a document was filed with the FEC in which the ‘number two’ during the Trump Administration had declared his candidacy to run for president, as reported by Sky News.
Previously, Pence has confirmed that he is assessing with his family the possibility of presenting his candidacy to the primaries of the Republican Party.
The former vice president argued that after the officialization of Donald Trump’s candidacy to opt for the presidency after the Republican primaries there would be «better options», noting that the American people will be the ones who will have to ratify or not the tycoon again as president of the country.
