Pope Francis is continuing his daily schedule on Thursday as usual despite the worsening of Benedict XVI’s health condition, which was announced on Wednesday.
As reported by the Vatican press office, the pontiff will meet this morning at the Apostolic Palace with the Apostolic Nuncio to Madagascar, Titular Archbishop of Rubicon, Monsignor Tomasz Grysa, who will be accompanied by his relatives.
He will also receive the Titular Bishop of Tronto, Auxiliary of Rome, Monsignor Benoni Ambarus. Finally, he is scheduled to meet with the commander of the Pontifical Swiss Guard, Colonel Christoph Graf, and with the theologian of the Penitentiary, Jesuit Father Ján Dacok.
The director of the Vatican press office, Matteo Bruni, confirmed Wednesday that the health conditions of 95-year-old Benedict XVI had deteriorated in recent hours, although for the moment he has not been transferred to any hospital and his condition is «under continuous medical control».
The Pope emeritus has spent the night in the Mater Ecclesiae monastery, located in the Vatican gardens, where he has resided since he resigned from the pontificate in 2013. For the moment, the Vatican has not updated the medical report on Benedict XVI’s health conditions.
