
The Bolivian Foreign Ministry has announced the repatriation of the 45-year-old woman victim of gender violence murdered this Wednesday in Bilbao and has requested the extradition of the assailant, who is in the custody of the Ertzaintza.
«After the sensitive death of the Bolivian citizen Rebeca H.H., victim of femicide in Bilbao, Kingdom of Spain; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consulate of the Plurinational State of Bolivia in Bilbao, is carrying out consular care to assist the victim’s relatives,» wields a statement from the Bolivian diplomacy.
As part of the assistance to the family, the Bolivian Consulate in Bilbao has managed to contact the victim’s brother, who has requested the repatriation of the body to the city of Santa Cruz.
In this sense, the consulate has held meetings with the Bolivian community in Bilbao, who have requested the extradition of the aggressor and have asked that he serve his sentence in Bolivia, arguing that prison in Spain would be «a hotel».
«Once the request has been formalized by the victim’s relatives, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will make all the necessary arrangements for the repatriation of the mortal remains of the Bolivian national to the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia», reads the note.
The woman’s body was found with signs of violence on Wednesday morning in a bar on San Francisco street in Bilbao. The alleged perpetrator of the crime was arrested by Municipal Police officers, as reported to Europa Press municipal sources.
The facts would have happened at 9.00 am, when the alleged perpetrator called the Guardia Urbana. On arrival at the scene, the officers found the death of a woman who showed signs of violence.
Other sources confirmed that, in the call to the police, the arrested man had told the agents that he had been the perpetrator of the crime. The arrestee has been transferred to the Ertzaintza, which is in charge of the investigations.
