Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday conveyed Ankara’s support for the peace plan proposed by Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, based on ten points of security at all levels and guarantees for the cessation of hostilities.
«Russia assures that it is ready for negotiations now. Zelenski proposed a ten-point peace plan. We, as Turkey, support this plan and continue our work,» Cavusoglu said during a meeting with his South African counterpart, Naledi Pandor.
At this point, Cavusoglu has stressed that Ankara is committed to dialogue to put an end to a conflict that is now approaching eleven months. «We believe that this war will end at the negotiating table. The sooner the better,» he said.
Turkey has been one of the main international arbitrators in the war in Eastern Europe and, together with the United Nations, facilitated an agreement between Russia and Ukraine for the export of Ukrainian grain and Russian fertilizers from Black Sea ports.
In this regard, Cavusoglu has stressed that, in his opinion, «much more grain and fertilizer should be sent to developing and underdeveloped countries, to the African continent», according to the Turkish news agency Anatolia.
