Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba has urged the European Union to speed up the new round of sanctions against Russia, this time targeting the Russian arms industry, especially missile and drone manufacturing.

«I urge you to introduce devastating sanctions against the Russian missile and drone industry. By destroying or severely limiting Russia’s ability to produce new missiles and drones, we will ‘kill’ its ability to create new means of terror,» Kuleba has asserted.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Monday issued a statement urging the European bloc not only to sanction these companies, but also to ensure that companies and individuals included in previous rounds do not evade sanctions imposed by Brussels.

In this line, Kuleba has stressed that it is «inadmissible» that the EU allows certain restrictions not to be complied with and has urged to «close all loopholes to circumvent sanctions». «Data indicate active attempts by Russia to circumvent restrictions. All this must be met with strong resistance,» he has said.

On the other hand, while calling for extending sanctions and ensuring compliance with those already imposed, Kuleba has asked the European Union to reduce the oil cap, as well as to disconnect some Russian banking entities from the SWIFT system, as well as to deprive Russia of access to services and operations with cryptocurrencies.

Finally, Kuleba has also called for putting an end to cooperation with Russia in the field of atomic energy, as well as imposing sanctions on the main Russian company in the sector, the state conglomerate Rosatom, starting with its employees and officials.
