Former British health minister Matt Hancock, currently a member of the House of Commons, was attacked on Tuesday on the London Underground by a man who has now been arrested and charged.
Transport Police have identified the suspect as Geza Tarjanyi, 61, a resident of Lancashire. He is charged with two public order offenses and one count of assault, but remains at large pending a court appearance on February 22.
Hancock was unharmed in the assault, details of which have not emerged, according to sources quoted by the BBC. The MP was one of the most visible faces of Boris Johnson’s government during the worst moments of the COVID-19 pandemic and in recent weeks had returned to the news for his participation in a reality TV survival show.
