The Council of Ministers has approved this Tuesday after its meeting the royal decree that decorates the president of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço and his wife Ana Afonso Dias Lourenço days before King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia travel to the African country.
The Government has awarded the Collar of the Order of Civil Merit to the Angolan president and the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit to his wife.
Felipe VI has already indicated that he and Queen Letizia are «especially looking forward» to their trip to Angola in early February, their first state visit to Sub-Saharan Africa.
According to him, this trip «symbolizes the involvement» of Spain with the countries of this continent, with which it shares opportunities and challenges, assuring that «the commitment to their stability, security and development, as closely linked realities, is firm and unconditional».
