The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has informed this Sunday that Spain has sent to Chile a plane with a contingent of the UME to collaborate in the extinction and control of the fires that are hitting the South American country, all this after it has asked for help to several governments, including the Spanish one.
Sánchez has underlined that Spain «knows well the drama of the forest fires» and has sent his support to the Chilean people, who for the moment have regretted the death of 23 people due to the fire that is devastating the center-south of the country.
Chile’s National Service for Disaster Prevention and Response (Senapred) said early Sunday morning that 1,111 people have been sheltered, 865 have been affected and 979 have been injured, although it has not specified their severity.
In addition, it has specified that 563 houses are at this moment in a state of evaluation due to the damages produced, while a total of 20 educational centers have been damaged.
