The President of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, appointed on Monday the current director of the Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI), Agustin Rossi, as the new chief of staff, in a reshuffle linked to the imminent electoral campaign.
The former Chief of Cabinet, Juan Manzur, will head the campaign of the ruling party for the elections in Tucumán. «The Chief of Cabinet is a constitutional position that does not allow the use of leaves of absence», explained the Presidency in a statement.
Fernandez has thanked Manzur in said note for the commitment and the «political and personal support» he has given him and has welcomed the AFI director, who will assume his new post on Wednesday. He already has experience in the political front line, as a leader of Kirchnerism in Congress and Minister of Defense.
Argentina faces this year a series of regional and national elections, including legislative and presidential elections on October 22.
