Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized on Tuesday the announcement by his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to suspend the nuclear arms treaty with the United States, and took the opportunity to reproach the «terrorist» style with which Russia communicates.

«Unfortunately, they (Russia) already communicate like terrorists, but the only difference is that terrorists wear masks, and they don’t even hide their faces,» Zelenskyy said at a press conference during a visit to Ukraine by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

As to whether Russia is considering carrying out nuclear exercises, Zelenskyy has pointed out that Putin has already made the decision in this regard. «First he made the decision to intimidate, and then he has connected it with some messages to the United States,» he has reproached, as Ukrinform Ukrainian agency reports.

President Putin has announced on Tuesday the suspension of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) signed with the United States, qualifying that this is not an «abandonment» of the agreement and claiming that the country «must be ready to carry out nuclear tests if the United States carries them out first».

In this regard, Zelenskyy acknowledged that he had not been able to watch his Russian counterpart’s message live, as at that very moment in the morning he was focused on what was happening in the Kherson region, where at least six people have been killed and 21 others wounded by a new Russian attack.
