Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has once again denounced that Western powers are trying to «dismember» Russia and «deprive it of its independence» through the influence exerted over Ukraine.
«Today we are once again in grave danger. Using Ukraine, the collective West seeks to dismember Russia, to deprive it of its independence. These attempts are doomed to failure,» Shoigu said.
Speaking at an event dedicated to the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland, the Russian minister stressed that the country’s Armed Forces now have the responsibility to serve as a guarantee of national security and development.
«Our servicemen and officers are defending what our grandfathers and great-grandfathers fought for. For them, the welfare and security of the homeland has always been the highest meaning of life,» the defense minister said, reports TASS.
In this line, Shoigu praised the military operations carried out today by Russian troops, referring directly to the war in Ukraine, and praised those who «put their lives at risk» in the fulfillment of their «military duty».
This is not the first occasion in which Moscow has denounced that the West is trying to destroy Russia through Ukraine, although it is true that the conflict, on the eve of a year of activity, was initiated by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
