The Russian Foreign Ministry has blacklisted a total of 144 citizens of the Baltic countries–Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania–including ministers, parliamentarians, journalists and other public figures.

As the foreign ministry stressed in a statement, Moscow’s move is justified by previous rounds of sanctions imposed by the Baltics, as well as by their attempts to interfere in Russia’s internal affairs.

These 150 or so sanctioned individuals are also accused of inciting »Russophobic» sentiment in the three countries, as well as being involved in »the barbaric campaign» launched by their respective governments for »the mass demolition of Soviet soldiers».

Moscow also considers that the 144 Baltic citizens have somehow promoted the persecution of Russian speakers, the rewriting of history and the glorification of Nazism, while seeking to »escalate the Ukrainian conflict and inflate the arms of the Kiev regime».
