The United States has made visas for tourists or business travelers 15% more expensive by increasing them from 160 to 185 dollars (169 euros), the government announced in a statement.
In addition, the fee for certain nonimmigrant visas based on petitions for temporary workers will grow from $190 to $205 (188 euros), and the fee for trader, investor and treaty-based applicants in a specialty occupation (category E) will rise from $205 to $315 (289 euros).
The U.S. Government has justified that the increase in visa fees addresses the rising costs of providing consular services, including visa services.
»Work and tourist visas are essential to President Joe Biden’s foreign policy, and we recognize the critical role that international travel plays in the U.S. economy,» the State Department emphasized.
