The Sudanese Armed Forces have warned Saturday that there will be no negotiations with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) until this group is disbanded.
»There will be no negotiation or dialogue as long as the RSF paramilitaries are not disbanded,» explained the General Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces on its official page on the social network Facebook.
The text also refers to the RSF derogatorily as the »rebel militia of ‘Hemedti»» in reference to the leader of the group, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, alias ‘Hemedti’.
The chief of staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces and ‘de facto’ leader of the country, Abdelfatá al Burhan, has thus blamed ‘Hemedti’ for leading the RSF to war by attacking the Army with the aim of seizing power, for which he has described the group as »rebellious». »We regret where the country has come to because of the RSF rebels,» he said.
The Sudanese top military official explained in subsequent statements to Al Arabiya that the RSF tried to take control of Khartoum’s barracks and vital points »even perpetrating assassinations». The Armed Forces had no choice but to confront the rebels», he stressed.
Previously the Army had reported that several RSF barracks have already surrendered to the Army and gives as an example those of Gedaref, Kassala, Hamishkoreeb and »several bases in the capital».
The RSF, on the other hand, claims to have taken control of Khartoum airport and the Merowe military base in the north of the country, an extermination which could not be verified.
