The White House has alleged that a Russian delegation visited an airfield in central Iran at least twice in the past month to examine unmanned fighter jets, after Tehran denied that it was sending its aircraft to Russia for use in the war against Ukrainian forces.

According to satellite images obtained by CNN, the Iranian Army demonstrated its Shahed-191 and Shahed-129 aircraft at Kashan airfield, south of Tehran, last month.

«We have information that the Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia with several hundred UAVs, including weapons-capable UAVs,» the National Security Advisor has made known. «We have assessed,» he added, that an official Russian delegation recently received a display, suggesting continued Russian interest in acquiring Iranian drones with strike capabilities.»

By contrast, Iranian Foreign Minister Hosein Amirabdolahian assured his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmitro Kuleba, that the U.S. claims are baseless.

Iran’s «clear and principled position» in opposing the war in Ukraine «is not like the dual approach adopted by some Western countries», the minister said in statements reported by the Iranian media.
