Moroccan security forces have arrested five suspected sympathizers of the Islamic State terrorist group who were planning attacks, as part of several operations carried out in various areas of the country, authorities have reported.
The suspects, aged between 20 and 45, were arrested in the provinces of Casablanca, Kenitra, Sidi Yahya Zaer, Inezgane-Ait Melloul and Chichaua, spread between the center and south of the Alaouite kingdom, according to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ).
All of them had professed «allegiance» to the Islamic State and were preparing to attack basic services and security force targets. The authorities have seized weapons and ammunition and claim that several of the detainees were already being trained in the manufacture of explosives.
