The president of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Margareta Cederfelt, has emphasized that «regardless of political parties», all its regional members «will continue to stand up» for the defense of international law, which on this occasion includes the unconditional withdrawal of Russia from the territory of Ukraine.
On the occasion of the Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform held on Tuesday in Zagreb, the Croatian capital, Cederfelt has once again reiterated that there is among the international community «full solidarity with the people of Ukraine».
During his speech, Cederfelt noted that the parliamentarians of the OSCE member states share «the suffering of millions of Ukrainians» during the eight-month-old war and stand firm in their support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence.
Before Russia started this war, Cederfelt recalled that the OSCE had been denouncing since 2014 its annexation of Crimea as a «clear, flagrant and uncorrected violation of the Helsinki Final Act».
The summit, which brought together at the request of the Ukrainian government political representatives from dozens of countries in order to increase international pressure on Russia, concluded with a joint statement calling for «continued political, diplomatic, financial, humanitarian and other support to restore the internationally recognized territorial integrity of Ukraine.»
