A judge of the Superior Court of Justice has ordered 30 days of preventive detention for the alleged ‘shadow cabinet’ of the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, constitutionally denounced for this same case that accuses him of leading a criminal organization for the delivery of public works.
They are Salatiel Marrufo, Biberto Castillo and Abel Cabrera, Castillo’s former advisors, who were already under preliminary detention. If found guilty of the crimes they are accused of — criminal organization, collusion and influence peddling — they could serve between 12 and 19 years in prison.
On October 11, the Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the arrest of six other people who could be related to these events. One of them, Segundo Alejandro Sánchez, remains a fugitive from justice and has announced through social networks that he has no intention of turning himself in, recalls ‘Diario Correo’.
Castillo is being targeted by the Peruvian Prosecutor’s Office, which accuses him of being behind a corruption scheme to favor construction companies and consortiums in public works processes in exchange for bribes.
