Pro-Russian authorities in Ukraine’s Zaporiyia region have reported that, on the basis of martial law in the territory, administration employees will be able to check residents’ cell phones for pro-Ukrainian «propaganda».
As detailed on his Telegram channel by the spokesman of the pro-Russian authorities, Vladimir Rogov, «targeted preventive checks» of the mobile devices of the citizens of Zaporiyia have begun this Thursday.
«Subscriptions to propaganda resources of the Kiev terrorist regime are of interest. If a person is subscribed to propaganda resources, he will receive a warning the first time. In the future, violators will be fined,» he noted.
If content deemed to be propagandistic is identified, the citizen in question could be charged with being a «foreign agent», making him or her subject to possible criminal prosecution.
These controls will be carried out within the framework of the martial law that Russian President Vladimir Putin decreed over the Zaporiyia region and the rest of the territories annexed by Moscow at the end of September.
