Former U.S. President Donald Trump has reported that he plans to hold four rallies in the states of Iowa, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania in a bid to shore up support for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections, known as ‘midterms’ scheduled for Nov. 8.
With an eye on getting the Republican Party to take control of the US Congress, Trump has announced that these events will be held over the next five days, so it will move next Thursday to Sioux City, Iowa, to move two days later to Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
Afterwards, Trump will travel to the city of Miami for an event in which he will have the participation of Senator Marco Rubio (but not the governor, Ron DeSantis) and will end his tour in Vandalia, Ohio.
Relations with DeSantis have cooled recently over the possibility of the two facing off in a primary ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Trump has reproached the governor for not ruling out running in the event that he himself runs in the election. In addition, DeSantis has refused to commit to remain governor until the end of his term.
Everything indicates that Trump is accelerating his plans to launch a new presidential campaign in the hope that the Republicans will gain more support in the midterm elections within the framework of a system that favors cohabitation.
However, the New York magnate is at the center of several investigations related to his passage through the White House, whether for the alleged extraction of confidential documents, the refusal to provide his tax information and his involvement in the assault on the Capitol in January 2021.
