Former U.S. President Donald Trump has applauded billionaire Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, saying the social network, from which he was suspended in January last year for inciting violence, is now in the «hands of a sane person» and not «the lunatics on the radical left.»
The former president, in his congratulatory message, has recommended the South African tycoon to «work hard to get rid of all the automatic and false accounts that have done so much damage». From his perspective, the result will be the emergence of a new Twitter, «smaller, but better».
«I am very happy that Twitter is now in the hands of a sane person and is no longer run by the lunatics of the radical left and the maniacs who truly hate our country,» Trump wrote in a message posted on his own Truth Social platform.
Trump boosted this platform after his expulsion from Twitter on January 8, 2021, two days after the assault on the Capitol launched by many of his supporters after protesting the outcome of the November 2020 presidential election, in which President Joe Biden won.
Former President Trump has also taken the opportunity to applaud the results that Truth Social, a network that «has become a kind of phenomenon since last week» by registering, in his words, «better numbers» than giants of digital interaction such as «TikTok, Twitter, Facebook and others».
«It looks better now and is more pleasing to the eye,» Trump has declared about Truth Social’s appearance. «I love Truth!» the former U.S. president’s message concludes.
