Ukrainian authorities have denounced on Sunday a Russian bombardment on the city of Energodar, in the east of the country, in the vicinity of the Zaporiyia nuclear power plant, which has left most of the town without electricity supply, although for the moment there are no casualties to report.
The Ukrainian mayor of the city, Dimitro Orlov, has accused Russia of using this shelling in a city occupied in principle by Moscow forces to «discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine», according to a message posted on his Telegram account.
«This morning, the occupants of Energodar have returned with their provocations. As a result of the shelling of the industrial zone, most of the city was left without electricity. Previously, they hit one of the substations,» Orlov has indicated.
«Information about the extent of the damage and the restoration of power supply is being clarified,» the mayor added. Moscow has not yet commented on the incident.
