Jaime Vásquez Castillo, nephew of the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, has been accused of claiming part of the salary of an official of the National Superintendence of State Assets (SBN) every month from which he obtained the position.

This person is the former general manager of the SBN, Edgar Lucio López, and according to Vásquez he would have allied with Edgar León Ordóñez to demand 2,000 soles per month (just over 500 euros) on up to five occasions.

Lopez has also denounced that the recently appointed superintendent of the SBN, Roger Gavidia, demanded 20,000 soles per month (5,000 euros approximately) from him. «I don’t know, you take from where you can», he has denounced that he demanded in a meeting in which Vásquez himself was present, according to the program Cuarto Poder of the Peruvian channel América Televisión.

Lucio has pointed to León Ordóñez as the «shadow superintendent», who went from receiving a salary of 5,500 soles (1,400 euros) as technical assistant to another two of 35,000 soles (8,800 euros) each for financial and senior management consulting work.

Jaime Vásquez is the older brother of Fray Vásquez, a fugitive from Peruvian justice after five months ago he was remanded in custody for more than a year while being investigated for alleged corruption in a scheme allegedly led by President Castillo to receive money in exchange for managing the delivery of public works.
