The Safe Internet League, a Kremlin-friendly body focused on regulating online content, has warned of the possibility of a series of mass protests on Friday in Russia, the day the country celebrates People’s Unity Day.
According to Ekaterina Mizulina, director of the agency and member of the Russian Civic Chamber, several Internet portals are registering calls by extremist organizations to gather on Friday to protest against the Russian government.
«For November 4, a number of protest actions are planned, driven from abroad, mainly from the territory of Ukraine,» said Mizulina, who reported that the authorities are already investigating about the call and outlining a security plan.
According to the Russian representative, the main calls are being registered in Buryatia, Sakha and Tuva, three regions located in the eastern half of the Russian territory, according to TASS news agency.
«Despite all the attempts of the West to divide our society, especially on the issue of a special military operation, (euphemism by which Russia refers to the war in Ukraine), we are still all together, we are united in one big country that will overcome all difficulties and will emerge victorious from this situation,» Mizulina concluded.
