Pakistan’s opposition Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) party, led by former Prime Minister Imran Jan, said Monday that it has postponed its march to Islamabad, the country’s capital, until Thursday after Jan was injured in an attack.

«The march will resume from Wazirabad on Nov. 10 at 14.00 (local time),» Faisal Javed Jan, a senior leader of the formation, said on his Twitter account.

The followers of the formation have been marching against the Pakistani government since the beginning of November to demand early elections, although the protests have been suspended after Jan was wounded by several gunshots in both legs.

Although he is out of danger, the formation has announced that it will resume the march on Thursday after initially indicating that it would resume on Tuesday.

Leading the march now is the country’s former foreign minister Mahmud Qureshi, one of the party’s leaders. The formation’s vice chairman, Fawad Chaudhry, had already warned of a possible delay in the resumption of the march.

Jan’s followers were initially scheduled to arrive in the country’s capital on November 11. The previous march, which took place in May, resulted in clashes between activists and police and dozens of injuries.

On Sunday, Jan himself announced that the march would resume this Tuesday from the same point where he was shot. Jan accused the government and an army general of involvement in the assassination attempt. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday called for a judicial commission of inquiry to be set up.
