More than two-thirds of voters for House candidates do not want incumbent U.S. President Joe Biden to run for re-election in 2024, according to the results of a poll conducted by Edison Research for several U.S. networks.
More than seven in ten independent voters and nearly nine in ten Republican voters said they do not want Biden to be in the 2024 presidential race. In contrast, nearly six in ten Democrats believe he should run for re-election.
Republican supporters, who make up just over a third of the electorate, overwhelmingly – nine in ten – have an unfavorable opinion of the president and disapprove of his administration.
As for Democratic sympathizers -with the same proportion as Republicans- only one in ten disapprove of the policies carried out during the Biden Administration.
In contrast, more than half of independent voters -who make up a quarter of the electorate- have an unfavorable opinion of the Democratic leader.
