The president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has urged the population to stay in shelters until the threat of new attacks is ruled out and has assured that, despite the wave of bombings perpetrated on Tuesday, Russia «will not achieve what it wants».
The Ukrainian Armed Forces estimate that the Russians have launched more than a hundred missiles in the last hours and, as confirmed by Zelenski, several areas have suffered power cuts. The president has promised that the authorities will work to restore it.
«We will survive everything», he has affirmed, in a video addressed to citizens and spread on his social networks and in which he has also proclaimed «glory to Ukraine», according to UNIAN agency.
The attacks have affected different provinces and cities of the country and have caused blackouts in areas such as Kiev, Lviv, and Kharkov. The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, has reported at least one fatality from the impact of shells on civilian buildings.
