The Swedish government announced Wednesday that it will deliver another 3 billion kronor (about 275 million euros) in aid to Ukraine in the midst of Russia’s invasion.
The country’s Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, said during a press conference that this is «a military assistance package that is much larger than the previous eight.» «It is the largest and it is in line with Ukraine’s priorities in terms of what it considers the country needs right now,» he said.
Kristersson also said that the government is closely monitoring all developments following the explosion in Poland after a shell fell.
For his part, the Swedish Minister of Defense, Pal Jonson, has stated that the new package includes air defense systems, so necessary for the Ukrainian Army, which seeks to confront Russian missiles, according to information from the newspaper ‘Dagens Nyheter’.
The Ukrainian authorities, for their part, have indicated that «good news has arrived from Scandinavia: Sweden’s announcement to send another security assistance package to Ukraine».
«Air defense systems, vehicles, equipment for the winter to help our soldiers,» Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksei Reznikov said, according to the Ukrinform news agency.
