Ecuador’s Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed Friday that at least nine prisoners have died in a new series of riots, this time in the El Inca prison, located in the country’s capital, Quito.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the news on its social networks, where it has launched a publication in which it points out that the agents of the Prosecutor’s Office are carrying out the necessary procedures for the removal of the bodies.
These disturbances come just hours after Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso reported the transfer of an organized gang leader from El Inca to La Roca, the country’s second most secure prison after El Litoral.
For its part, the Integrated Service of Attention to Persons Deprived of Liberty (Snai) has not yet made an official statement on the matter, according to the Ecuadorian newspaper ‘El Comercio’.
