Four young people have been murdered in the last hours in the Colombian state of Arauca, in the east of the country, according to the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz), which recalls that 88 massacres have been perpetrated so far this year.
«Four young people have been killed in the area known as Rinconhondo, a road that connects the municipality of Puerto Rondón with Tame in the department of Arauca», reported Indepaz.
The bodies of the victims had several gunshot wounds and were abandoned on the road. For the moment the identity of the deceased is unknown.
The Ombudsman’s Office has warned of the presence of armed actors who are making demands, trying to impose loyalty to their organization and ensure control of the territory. To this end, they have threatened violent actions such as homicide or forced displacement.
The guerrillas of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the 10th Front of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) are present in the area. The region is under the jurisdiction of the Eighth Division of the Colombian Army.
