
At least eight people have been killed in an armed attack on a police station in Celaya, a Mexican city in the central state of Guanajuato.
Several people were driving around in two vans and fired gunshots at the community’s municipal police station, the Celaya Citizen Security Secretariat (SSCC) said in a statement released on social networks.
The authorities have indicated that the agents have repelled the attack «neutralizing several alleged criminals, without any casualties» among the members of the police force.
After this attack, within the framework of an operation carried out by SSCC together with state and federal authorities with the objective of finding the rest of the suspects of the first event, «an aggression of firearm shots was registered where several more aggressors were shot down».
Three police officers were also wounded in the attack. At least four people have been arrested, while two vehicles and several weapons have been seized, reports the newspaper ‘Milenio’.
