Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to work together to promote peace and stability in the region and globally, KCNA reported.
Responding in a letter to congratulations from North Korea following his re-election as general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Xi stressed the importance of relations between the two countries, especially at a historic moment when changes are taking place «in an unprecedented way.»
«Changes in the world, times and history are taking place in an unprecedented way. Under this new situation, I will work with Comrade Secretary General (Kim Jong Un) (…) ready to make new and positive contributions to promote peace, stability, development and prosperity in the region and the world at large,» reads the letter released by the agency.
In this sense, the Chinese Government has shown its willingness to consolidate bilateral relations to provide «better welfare to the peoples of the two countries» and promoting the development of the socialist cause.
Meanwhile, Xi Jinping recalled that in recent years both states have opened «a new historical chapter» by promoting the process of political settlement of the Korean Peninsula.
