Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba has requested the cooperation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to stop the forced deportations of Ukrainian minors to Russian territory.
Kuleba held a meeting this Saturday with ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric, in which he expressed his gratitude for the work done in Ukraine, but asked to redouble these efforts.
«I have asked the ICRC to help us stop one of Russia’s most heinous crimes, the forcible transfer of Ukrainian children, return them to their homes and prevent illegal adoption,» Kuleba said on his official profile on the social network Twitter.
Spoljaric traveled to Ukraine last Thursday as part of a four-day visit to the European country that has taken him to meet with residents of Mikolaiv and Kherson and meet with teams working in the east of the country near the frontline of hostilities.
Coinciding also with his trip to Ukraine, Spoljaric confirmed that members of the organization would conduct further meetings with Ukrainian prisoners of war held by Russia to check their state of health.
