At least two people were killed and ten others injured on Saturday in an attack blamed on the Ukrainian Army by pro-Russian authorities in the village of Melitopol, Zaporiyia region.

The acting regional governor, Yevhen Balitsky, said in a message on his Telegram account that Ukrainian forces carried out an artillery attack on the outskirts of the town and noted that «two missiles were shot down, while four hit their target».

«The target is the civilian infrastructure of a peaceful city. The Kiev Nazis have hit four points in a cotton-growing area in the vicinity of Melitopol,» he said, before denouncing that «according to preliminary data, there are two dead and ten wounded.»

He also stressed that the place has been «completely destroyed» and added that «rescue teams are on the spot and are removing debris». «All victims will receive maximum assistance and support,» Balitsky reiterated.

Russia annexed at the end of September the regions of Lugansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zapiriyia, which it partially occupies following the invasion launched on February 24 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Lugansk and Donetsk, in the Donbas, had been the scene of a conflict since 2014 between pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian central authorities.

On the other hand, the group ATESH (Movement of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars) have claimed to have set fire to a Russian military installation on the Crimean peninsula, annexed in 2014. «We have been working on this project for a long time and have been successful. We will continue to destroy the Russian Army from within,» he has settled.
