Ukrainian authorities reported Sunday that more than 300,000 residents of the city of Odessa and surrounding areas are still without electricity following what the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said was a Russian drone strike on Friday night into Saturday.
«About 300,000 residents of Odessa are still without electricity after the Russian bombing of the energy infrastructure on December 10,» the head of the Ukrainian administration of Odessa, Maksim Marchenko, has denounced.
«Of the 1.5 million residents who were left without power yesterday, 300,000 subscribers are still without power in the region but we expect a significant improvement in the situation tomorrow,» Marchenko said.
The deputy head of the Presidential Office, Kiril Tymoshenko, and the mayor of the city, Gennady Trukhanov, yesterday denounced pre-dawn Russian drone attacks that have caused serious damage to the energy infrastructure.
About the attack, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has specified that approximately 15 drones were involved, including Iranian «Shakhed-136» aircraft, ten of which were intercepted, according to a message posted on its Facebook page.
