The digital stickers launched Thursday by former U.S. President Donald Trump, NFT-style digital assets, have sold out less than 24 hours after the tycoon announced their release.
According to data provided by OpenSea Data, a company specialized in tracking and selling this type of assets, Trump put into circulation about 45,000 digital stickers worth $99 each, reports The Hill.
During the first hours of this Friday in the United States, the material driven by Trump were the most searched trend on the platform shortly before they were exhausted and their purchase links were removed.
The former president confirmed on Thursday that the «important announcement» he had spoken of in recent days was the launch of a collection of digital stickers with his own image, and not anything related to the presidential election, as speculated by the US press.
Trump’s announcement generated derision among his detractors, including the current tenant of the White House, Joe Biden, who posted on his personal Twitter profile: «I also had some major announcements in recent weeks,» referring to the latest social and economic measures approved by his administration.
